Genuine Comedy Review

Editorial policy

Genuine Comedy Review aims for clear, careful writing about comedy and culture. Our articles distinguish interpretation from factual description, explain their reasoning and welcome correction when a detail does not hold up.

Accuracy and context

We check names, titles, quotations and contextual claims before publication, using sources appropriate to the subject. We avoid presenting a reading of a joke, character or work as the only possible interpretation. If a detail is uncertain or disputed, we say so rather than smoothing away the uncertainty.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for relevance, clarity and reader interest. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage or determine an editorial conclusion. We do not accept payment in exchange for a favourable review or an undisclosed editorial mention.

Corrections

If you spot an error, contact us with the article title and the passage in question. We review specific, supportable correction requests and amend material when warranted. Where a correction changes the meaning of an article, we make the change clear to readers.

Partner material and illustrations

Any paid, gifted or otherwise partner-supported material is clearly labelled near the relevant content. Partner links and placements are identified so readers can distinguish them from editorial selections. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; we label them where they appear and do not present them as documentary images.

Our point of view

A joke can be a way of seeing

Genuine Comedy Review looks beyond the laugh to the choices that make comedy work and the assumptions those choices bring into view.
